5 awesome summer activities in Missoula

Music, Friends, and Beer

The music scene in Missoula during the summer months is insane. One of my favorite venues is Big Sky Brewing. This venue offers all of the best qualities of Missoula. Qualities such as nature, music, good beer, and friends. The venue has an authentic feeling, one that can only be found in Missoula. As your there, you look around in disbelief, asking yourself am I really in Montana? Big Sky has an extensive musical line up this summer. Artists such as Boston, Slightly Stoopid, Bare-naked Ladies, Sublime, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Brandi Carlile will be performing the summer of 2016. I highly recommend catching one of these shows to get the most out of your summer in Missoula.

Surfing in Montana?

Yes, there is surfing in Montana. Brennan’s Wave in Downtown Missoula offers anyone a chance to surf “Montana style”. “Named for Brennan Guth, a Missoula-native and world-class kayaker who died paddling in Chile in 2001, the man-made wave gives local kayakers a spectacular whitewater feature to call their own. The $300,000 project has been a great addition to Missoula and to the Downtown community in particular. Not only has it given local kayakers a place to play right in the heart of the city, it has also brought revenue and recognition to the city.”

Don’t have a surfboard? No worries, Strongwater MTN Surf Co. not only provides rentals, but also offers surfing lessons for beginners looking to hit the water. Founded in 2008, Strongwater MTN Surf Co. has an amazing and beautiful motto, which simply states “Our passion is surfing & our dream is surf the earth.” Strongwater has brought a new culture to the Big Sky state, they are literally re-defining surfing in every which way. I highly suggest that anyone looking for a new hobby stop by Strongwater and surf some rapids this summer.
